Kama‘aina Christmas is the museum’s premier fundraising event and proceeds make it possible for the museum to present world-class exhibitions, meet a growing demand for arts education in our community, and ensure the museum is accessible to everyone.

Chaired by Joji Baptiste, Kelly Huang, and Rae Sultan, this year’s theme, White Christmas, will be a merry evening with a three-course meal by Chef Roy Yamaguchi, cocktails, music, and dancing. You may even be able to hear sleigh bells in the snow! The annual fundraiser will also feature a wine sale, silent auction, and wish tree.

101 • Skyhigh Tour and Dinner with Sharon Twigg-Smith 
Located atop one of Honolulu’s most dynamic condo buildings the Symphony, Sharon Twigg-Smith invites guests to take in the spectacular views and offers a tour of her personal collection of Contemporary paintings, sculptures, and drawings. Over an intimate dinner, Sharon will share her experiences as a life- long collector and the intricacies of moving an art collection from house to condo.

102  Mission Impossible Tour with Herb and Nancy Conley
In 2003, Herb and Nancy Conley began collecting Contemporary art with a seemingly simple mission of buying one work of art from five Hawai‘i-centric Abstract Expressionist artists. Fast forward 15 years to join Herb and Nancy in their historic Diamond Head home for a tour of over 200 artworks representing more than 50 Hawai‘i-centric artists. Find out how two individuals form a focused collection, and who more often calls upon the power of the personal veto.

Join Tamara Rigney, Founder of Paiko and Mei Day floral design companies, for a morning inspired by botanical arts from the garden and kitchen. Tamara begins the morning with a garden tour through the Japanese Stroll Garden at Spalding House followed by a floral activity. Learn how to incorporate garden elements in floral arrangements by creating your own hand-tied bouquet. Brunch will be prepared by Chef Susan Lai Hipp featuring her contemporary cuisine accented with Mediterranean ingredients. Serenity abounds in this experience taking place before museum hours.

105 • An Evening of Epicurean Delights of Fine Art and Dining with Taiji and Naoko
Taiji and Naoko Terasaki welcome guests to immerse themselves in their AIA award-winning home, extensive Contemporary art collection, Taiji’s art studio, and an award-winning edible landscape. Following sunset cocktails offered in the James Turrell installation, Chef Jordan Patrick Sugiyama of Yield Restaurant and Taiji team up to create a coursed vegan Japanese temple menu with ingredients grown on property.

106  Passionate Preservation at Manoa Heritage Center with Mary Cooke

Art collection talk and walk at the longtime private estate of Duncan and Dawn MacNaughton. The MacNaughtons welcome up to 12 guests to their private residence for a tour and discussion on their contemporary art collection and historic home. Honolulu Musesum of Art deputy director, Allison Wong, will facilitate the art tour. The experience will be additionally complemented with premium cocktails, wines and passed appetizers from Chef Vikram Garg, former executive chef at Halekulani Hotel.
