Description:
Ichikawa Yaozö (II), identified by his mon (family crest) and Nakamura Matsue (I) are depicted in front of a byöbu (screen) and some mosquito netting. The scene suggests that it is summer, but beyond this there is little to guide the art historian in identification. This print may be connected to a Nakamura-za production of the eleventh month of Meiwa 8 (1771), because these actors performed together at this time. (from Daring Moves Exhibition, 8/1/06-)
