Exhibition Overview

Each year, the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce supports the business of art in Hawai’i by organizing this annual venue for the best works of Hawai‘i‘s artists, held at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.

In 1978, the HJCC held its first exhibition to promote Japanese artists in Hawai‘i. Since then the exhibition has evolved to include works by Hawai‘i artists of all backgrounds. Today hundreds of artists make submissions to Commitment to Excellence.

The exhibition also invites 20 artists to enter one work each, and one senior master artist enters several works. Emerging artists selected by the jurors are eligible for nine awards and cash prizes.

This year's jurors:

• Vince Hazen, Director, Honolulu Museum of Art School
• Andrew Rose, Director, Andrew Rose Gallery
• Suzanne Wolfe, Professor Emerita, University of Hawai‘i–Mānoa

This year's invited master artist:
Snowden Hodges
