Exhibition Overview

The Hawaiʻi Craftsmen 2015, Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition is proud to announce its 48th installation, which will be held at the Honolulu Museum of Art School, Main Gallery. The exhibition will be open for viewing free to the public Tuesday, October 27, 2015 through Friday, November 20, 2015.

Exhibition opening and awards ceremony:
Tuesday, October 27, 5:30-7:30pm

This year's distinguished juror is Dr. Lowery Stokes Sims. Dr. Sims will give a free public lecture on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from at 5pm at the Honolulu Museum of Art School, Room 101.

Three specially invited guest artists include: Joey Chiarello (ceramics), Michael Mortara (glass), and Sharon Doughtie (wood).

Call to artists:

Emerging and established members and nonmembers are welcome to submit up to six artworks to be considered for this year’s exhibition. Artists are encouraged to enter traditional or non-traditional craft, including also functional and non-functional 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art in categories of clay, fiber, glass, wood, metal, stone and mixed media. Cash awards will be selected by the juror and presented at the exhibition opening reception on October 27. All entries must be of original design and created independently within the last two years. No work previously shown in a juried exhibition on Oʻahu is eligible.

This year, Hawaiʻi Craftsmen is pleased to be joining other major art institutions across the state of Hawaiʻi in using the web-based online registration system, CaFE. Registration for the Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition via CaFE will be open from July 1, 2015 until September 15, 2015. Participants can register via a link to CaFE provided at www.HawaiiCraftsmen.org or directly accessed via the CaFE call for entries for the annual exhibition.
