Exhibition Overview

In light of the IUCN World Conservation Congress coming to the Honolulu Convention Center this September, 10 scientists from the University of Hawai‘i have partnered with 10 members of the Honolulu Printmakers to create a portfolio of prints using traditional printmaking processes. This portfolio will be on view from September 7-30, 2016 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School in the mezzanine gallery.

Each scientist/artist team met to share processes and insights from their respective practices, resulting in a hand-printed edition by the artist that is influenced by his or her partner’s field of study. In addition, the artist has conferred with the scientist on the composition of a scientific poster for the public that will be exhibited alongside the artist's print. The exhibition will show concurrently with the IUCN conference, which runs September 1-10.

Opening reception: Tuesday, September 6, 5-7pm at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.
