Celebrate the holidays at the museum!
Entertainment and art activities end at 2pm.
Sweet Treat: Decorate a holiday cookie with frosting and sprinkles.
Holiday wreaths: Kids can make the holidays extra colorful and joyful by creating a wreath with felt and bells.
Celebrate Pasko: learn about the Filipino holiday of Pasko with members of the Filipino Association of University Women (FAUW). Kids can view colorful parols, star-shaped Christmas lanterns, on display and make their own with bamboo skewers and colorful paper.
Kilauea Strummers: 10:30am. Get into the holiday spirit with some classic Christmas tunes. The Kilauea Strummers will share their favorite Hawaiian and Christmas songs on ukulele.
TEKNIQLINGZ: 1:30pm. Tekniqlingz's mission is to strengthen ethnic identity and cultural awareness through education and the perpetuation of the Filipino culture in art, music, and dance. Watch as they share both modern and traditional Filipino folk dances.
Make more art! 10am-2pm. Stop by the Honolulu Museum of Art School and check out the new exhibition Lift. Kids can meet some of the artists and make lift-inspired art, including paper airplanes and origami cranes.
FAMILY FILM SUNDAY
Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!: 11:10am, 12pm + 1pm. Free. What are the holidays without seeing this cartoon that makes your heart three sizes bigger? Legendary cartoon director Chuck Jones’s adaption was the first prime-time animated television special based on a Dr. Seuss book.
Open to kids age 1 to 17, the contest station features drawing supplies where participants create a drawing based on a theme.
The winner receives a Supporting Membership to the Honolulu Museum of Art ($100 value), and his or her artwork is used to create the following month’s event brochure and is posted on the museum's website.
