ARTafterDARK:
'O Tahiti' information

Celebrate Tahiti—its culture, art and music—at this ARTafterDARK inspired by Paul Gauguin’s Noa Noa print series now on view in Gallery 9.

ARTafterDARK admission: $10. Free for Academy members.

MUSIC + ENTERTAINMENT

Experience Tahitian legends told through traditional dance and music.

Akala Dance Studio Performance & Workshop, 6:30-7:15pm

Tahiti Mana Performance, 7:30-8:15pm

Groove to DJ Kevin’s eclectic mix of house and disco in the Banyan Tiki lounge, 6-9pm.

ART

Watch and learn the timeless craft of lauhala weaving by artists from Ulana Me Ka Lokomaika’i, 6-9pm. First 100 guests in the Kinau Courtyard receive a hand woven lauhala i’a (fish) ornament.

Member’s perk: Make and take a Tahitian inspired screen print designed by artists Roxanne Chasle Ortiz  and Matthew Kawika Ortiz of VERS.

Learn to play the ‘ukulele in the Pacific Islands Gallery.

Explore Tahiti through Paul Gauguin’s Noa Noa prints on display in Gallery 9.

FOOD

Eat and drink tropical treats by Town & Downtown and be transported to the blue lagoons of Tahiti.

PARKING

Just a reminder—ARTafterDARKers can park in the following locations:

1) FREE: Street parking on Beretania and Kinau Street from 6 p.m.

2) $4: The Pro Park Parking Lot behind the Art Center at Linekona, entrances on Beretania and Young streets Payment is to be made at the yellow slot box next to the parking booth. 

3) $5 at the First United Methodist Church Parking Lot on the corner of Beretania and Victoria streets. NOTE: lot closes promptly at 10 p.m.
 
4) $5 at Kim Chee III Parking Lot on Young Street
