Start the New Year with the thunder of drums and a lion dance to ward off evil spirits and bring luck to the new year, 7:30pm & 8:30pm. Pick up a red envelope to give an offering to the lion.
New York DJ Roxy Cottontail will be here to rock the Year of the Rabbit. Her skills, talent and varied tastes have helped her rise to the top of the promoting, DJing, hip-hop and fashion worlds. Her signature style has deep roots in punk, electro, dance, house, hip-hop, reggae an rock. 6-9pm
Make your own Chinese New Year craft to take home.
Our favorite modern zen artist returns to ARTafterDARK. See Andy Lee create works of art combining Eastern and Western ways of thinking and painting. It is pop culture rendered in traditional calligraphic brushstrokes. Visit him for a free painting to hang on your wall!
All the first floor art galleries are open during ARTafterDARK. Also check out the following galleries with exhibitions that are ending soon:
Gallery 16 (docent-led zip tour): The Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou. See paintings by artists of the Yangzhou School, which is often considered to mark the beginning of modern Chinese painting. The Eight Eccentrics, the superstars of the Yangzhou School, emphasized stylistic innovation and bold brushwork in their paintings. Zip tour starts at 6:30pm. Meet the docent in the gallery.

Town-style jai "monk's food"—The traditional Chinese New Year vegetable stew made with tofu, noodles, dried mushrooms and preserved vegetables will highlight the abundance of locally grown vegetables. Look for choi sum, gai lan, Hamakua shiitake and pepeiao mushrooms, Hamanalo baby corn, MA'O carrots and green onions in your jai.

1) FREE: The Pro Park Parking Lot behind the Art Center at Linekona, entrances on Beretania and Young streets
2) FREE: Street parking on Beretania Street from 6 p.m.
3) FREE: First United Methodist Church Parking Lot on the corner of Beretania and Victoria streets. NOTE: lot closes promptly at 10 p.m.
4) FREE: Academy Staff Parking Lot at 1035 Kinau St., diamondhead of Victoria Street
5) $5 at Kim Chee III Parking Lot on Young Street
