SOLD OUT: Innersection (w/ Mayumba: Equator Flavoured Pointbreaks on the Edge of Africa)

Friday Jul 08 07:30 PM
Saturday Jul 23 01:00 PM

Doris Duke Theatre

About the Film:

Directors: Taylor Steele and Nathan Meyers
USA, 2011, 79 mins.

In this collaborative project, top pro surfers chose their own cinematographers and editors, then surfed, filmed, and edited their own segments. Each segment was then woven together into one Innersection. The movie is the climax of each Innersection year, including four rounds of competition, 25 qualifying surfers, and interviews and behind-the-scenes stories. This project is considered the next evolution in defining the high-performance surf film. Look for interviews with Innersection winner Matt Meola, Nate Tyler, Peter Devries, Ry Craike, Clay Marzo, Brent Dorrington, Mikala Jones, Cory Lopez, Pat Gudauskas, Marco Giorgi, Kelly Slater, Nat Young, Luke Lederman and more.

Mayumba: Equator Flavoured Pointbreaks on the Edge of Africa (short)
Director: Emiliano Cataldi
Gabon/Africa, 2011, 25 mins. In English

Travel, exploration, adventure and surf–that’s the simple mantra that drives the surfEXPLORE team (Sam Bleakley, Erwan Simon, Emiliano Cataldi, and surf photographer John Callahan), joined by legendary Hawaii surfer Randy Rarick, as they journey to the remote south coast of Gabon in West Africa, where stunning landscapes and quality waves abound. Mayumba retraces the steps of their trip and discoveries along the road less traveled.
