Co-directors Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger spent one year embedded with a platoon of US troops in Afghanistan’s deadly Korengal Valley. The result is this powerful and visceral documentary. Tim Hetherington was killed in April 2011 while on assignment in Ajdabiya, Libya. His work is showcased in the exhibition Courage and Strength: Portraits of Those Who Have Served. Winner: Grand Jury Prize, Sundance Film Festival. Academy Award nomination, Best Documentary Feature
