About the Performance:
Legendary contrabass virtuoso François Rabbath, accompanied on the piano by his son Sylvain, presents a program of rare melodic beauty and technical intricacy. Trained at the Paris Conservatory of Music, François made his international debut at Carnegie Hall. With more than 160 recordings in his long career, his artistry has earned him the title of “the Paganini of the contrabass”. François and Sylvain regularly visit Hawaii, performing and teaching in the biennial Hawaii Contrabass Festival. Co-sponsored by Shangri La, a Center for Islamic Arts and Culture owned and operated by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art, and the Hawaii American String Teachers Association. $35, $30 museum members
