About the Lecture:

As part of the new Curatorial Lecture Series, the museum's Curator of European and American Art, Theresa Papanikolas, gives the talk A Strange Familiar: The World of René Magritte, about the Belgian surrealist artist.

Dr. Theresa Papanikolas joined the Honolulu Museum of Art in 2008, following two years as the Wallis Annenberg Curatorial Fellow in the Prints and Drawings Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). A specialist in Dada and Surrealism, Papanikolas is the author of The Cultural Politics of Paris Dada, 1914-1923: Anarchism Between the Wars (2009) and Doctrinal Nourishment: Art and Anarchism in the Time of James Ensor (2009).
