Media: Lead sculptures, illustrated digital prints

Artist statement: Henri Cartier-Bresson once said, “things that take time stand the test of time.” I share this sentiment; one that seems to have been lost in the current age of speed and immediate gratification. In my work I combine meticulous labor-intensive, traditional processes and aesthetics in juxtaposition with contemporary technologies. I try to evoke a feeling of “wrongness,” or what Freud has called the uncanny, to point to “wrongness” that has been normalized with time, such as genetic engineering, malasada burgers and labradoodles.
