About this Class:
The tradition of learning to paint through copying the work of masters is as old as painting itself. There is no better way to deepen your understanding of how great painters have painted than to take on the task of replicating their work.
This class allows you the freedom to work in the painting medium of your choice: watercolor, acrylic, oil. Supply lists will be recommended for whichever medium you choose. Whether you are a complete beginner or seasoned painter, the instructor will use his studies in classical art to guide you through the methodical process of creating strikingly accurate recreations of celebrated and masterful paintings. Carefully examining others’ brushstrokes, colors, and compositions will embolden your own painting practice and bring you into a deeper connection with the long tradition of painting.
This class can serve as a companion to Jan Dickey’s Classical Drawing Course, as students use the classical “sight-size” technique to see visual form and replicate it precisely.
