American artists such as Gilbert Stuart, Benjamin West, Charles Wilson Peale, and John Singleton Copley clamored to capture the qualities of George Washington. This book takes and eloquent look at the beginnings of the American republic through these portraits that defined America's first icon. Led by docents Sue Francis and Lizzy Lowrey.
The museum's Book Club tour is a two-hour docent-led experience. Books are selected to connect with the museum’s works of art. Participants discuss the book in a relevant gallery.
Free with museum admission.
