In 1990, 13 priceless artworks were stolen from the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston, and have never been recovered. B. A. Shapiro takes that real-life story as the jumping off point for her debut novel. Twenty years later one of the paintings is delivered to an artist who agrees to copy it in exchange for a showing of her own work. But, is the painting real or is it too a forgery? The book is part history, part science and part thriller. Led by docents Mary Rhine and Anna Hoover.
The museum's Book Club tour is a two-hour docent-led experience. Books are selected to connect with the museum’s works of art. Participants discuss the book in a relevant gallery.
Free with museum admission.
