Call for community submissions
We’re planning something special this spring, and we need your help! In advance of a big announcement later this month, we’re collecting items from the HoMA community that will become part of a unique, shared experience in the months ahead.
Right now, we’re looking for submissions of meaningful images of you at the museum from months and years past, along with hands-on help making flags that will illustrate joyful messages of hope. (And folks with interest in knitting/crocheting or gardening/botany, ready your knitting needles and clippers!) Read on for details about how to get involved.
Photo submissions:
Send us photos of your favorite memories of you at HoMA, perhaps from an art class you took, a fun museum event, or simply a joyful moment captured at the museum. Please share! Digital photo submissions can be sent to: joyfulreturn@honolulumuseum.org.
At this time, we will not be taking photo submissions via social media.
If you have a print photo you’d like to share, please stop by the museum’s front desk during open hours, and a staff member will be happy to snap a digital photograph of your print.
Creating messages of hope:
We invite the HoMA community of all ages to write or draw messages of hope on fabric squares that will be fashioned into banner flags. Messages may reflect the hopes you have for family, community, or earth-based health and sustainability in 2021.
If you would like to participate, please email joyfulreturn@honolulumuseum.org and you’ll be sent a fabric square by mail. Fabric squares will include a self-addressed envelope, so that they can be mailed back to the museum. Be on the lookout for more information on in-person flag making opportunities at the museum!
Please return your fabric square by March 31, 2021.
