REMIX welcomes ARTafterDARKers to the Artists of Hawai‘i juried exhibition, on view through August 16. There will be two zip tours of the show, at 7PM, and at 7:30PM. Meet at the entrance of Gallery 28: Henry R Luce Gallery for the tour guide.

Live Art by Silas Stoddard in Banyan Court

Artist Co-op T-Shirt Sale: Peruse and purchase T-shirts designed by local
artists Bradley Capello, Christy Chung, Lesa Griffith, Kamea Hadar, Alan Konishi, Mat Kubo, Mariko Merritt and Silas Stoddard especially for REMIX in Banyan Court.

On rotation: The Academy's curatorial staff has been hard at work "mining the permanent collection" to bring new art to you on a regular basis. There are new rotations in the following galleries:
Gallery 9: Francisco Goya: The Disasters of War
Galleries 23 + 29: A Hawaiian Master Revisited: Charles Bartlett
Gallery 27: Ten Works—Ten Painters (Motherwell, Stella and more!)
Gallery 20: Mingei ceramics, paintings, and textiles. This exhibition was curated by Eiyo Baba, Sawako Chang, Karana Vierra, and Mizuho Murakami, members of a graduate seminar organized by Professor John Szostak of the Department of Art and Art History, University of Hawaiʻi–Mänoa.
Academy docents will be in the galleries to answer all your questions.

The art of the brick: In Kinau Courtyard, get your fill of LEGO art—the up-and -coming art form that's gaining exposure in galleries and museums around the world. Practiced by artists such as Nathan Sawaya, whose show The Art of the Brick is touring America, LEGO art focuses on the idea of re-purposing materials and creating something spectacular out of something so ordinary.
See a slide show of the most prominent LEGO art pieces ever created and construct a masterpiece of your own!

The Deadbeats headline in Central Courtyard 6-9PM. Don't miss their trademark REMIX of be-bop and R&B.
