Matthias Le Goff (Nicolas Gob), World Swimming Championship silver medalist, makes a homophobic remark on TV. His punishment? To coach “The Shiny Shrimps,” a gay water polo team, motivated more by partying than competition. This explosive coach-and-team combo then heads to Croatia to take part in the Gay Games, the world’s biggest gay sports meet. The journey offers Matthias the chance to discover an unfamiliar world that forces him to take a fresh look at himself and rethink his priorities.

Based on the classic RPG, Dungeons and Drag Queens combines the high-intensity machinations of D&D with the vibrant and boundless world of drag queens. Meet Rees and her faithful companions as they journey to reclaim the kingdom’s family jewels. Featuring the talents of Honolulu’s premier drag queens and trans actors, this short film begins the first installment of the Candi Lands trilogy.
Guests in Attendance:
Dane Neves (Outside the Lines)—A filmmaker, musician, photographer, actor, and puppeteer. A graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute and the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Academy for Creative Media, Neves has written, produced, directed, edited, performed in, and composed music for a series of local short films featuring puppets that have won more than 40 awards.
Cheyne Gallarde (Outside the Lines)—Gallarde is a multifaceted artist born and raised in Hawaii. He designed and shot the award-winning key visual for the 22nd Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival. Gallarde won two American Advertising Awards for his illustrations of LGBTQ icons for LOGOTV, worked for Condé Nast and VH1 and is illustrating a Penguin Book cover about the last decade of queer history. In June, his first solo art exhibit premiered at the SF AIDS Foundation Art Gallery.
Alexandra Livingston (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Former professor turned filmmaker and producer, Livingston is new to the filmmaking industry. With business and creative partner Jacob Sbragia, he founded the Sa’Ke Film Collective to provide support and resources for local filmmakers. Livingston co-created the sketch comedy TV series The Sweet Spot With Candi Shell, which airs on ‘Ōlelo Community Media.
Angel DeVida (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Hailing from a theater background, Angel DeVida is an acting talent that is unmatched. Since moving to Honolulu, she has focused her energy in the drag community. In Dungeons & Drag Queens, she stars as Divine, the duplicitous human bard.
CaraMel Flava/Mel Mariano (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Local queen and comedic talent CaraMel Flava (Mel Mariano) is star of the Divas Dance Show at Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand and Drag Brunch at Wang Chung’s Karaoke Bar. Committed to developing her craft, she actively mentors young queens and stars on the hit sketch comedy TV series The Sweet Spot With Candi Shell.
Dan Paul Roberts/Candi Shell (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Originally from Wichita Falls, Texas, Roberts has released two original albums. His drag alter ego, Candi Shell, hosts the monthly variety show Mimosas & Marys at Hula’s Bar & Lei Stand. Candi has appeared on national TV as a billed actor on Ugly Betty, opened for comedy legend Joan Rivers and stars in the sketch comedy TV series The Sweet Spot With Candi Shell on ‘Ōlelo Community Media.
Jason Victorino and Gdolce (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Together they perform in and produce Party MonsterHNL, a themed Glam Revue held at Scarlet Honolulu the last Friday of every month transforming it into a place safe for you to express yourself in whatever form you choose.
Shezzy Springs (Dungeons & Drag Queens)—Baby queen Shezzy Springs is new to drag and acting. In Dungeons & Drag Queens, she plays Fi, the elf fighter, in her acting debut.
