Family Sunday: Community

It is Family Sunday and we are thrilled to begin the year by celebrating our community! Join us for another day of in-person activities and Storytime at the museum. If you’re not able to come in person today, check out this month’s virtual activities to find lots of fun ways for families to spend time together. Family Sunday programming is designed for keiki of all ages to explore art and their own creativity.

This month’s Family Sunday theme is Community. Museum admission is free for kama‘āina on January 16, 2022, from 10am–6pm.

Activities Around the Museum

Shaka & Peace Signs Art Activity

Palm Courtyard   |  11am–1:30pm

From keiki to kupuna, everyone in Hawaiʻi flashes an iconic shaka: a simple gesture to express gratitude, friendship, and aloha. Let’s ring in the new year on the right foot—and hand!—with artmaking that celebrates our favorite way to wave.

Drop by the Palm Courtyard for this hands-on activity guided by one of our art instructors. Each participant will have the opportunity to decorate their own hand gesture sign to take home and share with their community.

Storytime at HoMA

Chinese Courtyard   |  11am & 12pm
