In the spirit of painters such as Edgar Degas, this new studio class explores the human figure by having students create and paint true-to-life situations. Live models in the studio may be working, resting, reading or dressing. The normal activities that make up life will be brought to life over a varied number of sessions, from three hours to multiple sessions. Models may be clothed, semi-clothed, or nude depending on the situation created. We may culminate the experience by painting outdoors with the model towards the end of the semester.
Pupils will be able to assist the instructor in many aspects of the pose, including color design, lighting, etc. This class is open to a variety of mediums depending on individual preference, including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor and drawing mediums. Prior figure drawing experience is recommended.
