Explore the past to create for the present...Students will learn a design process that results in creating works that have personal meaning. Utilizing the Museum and other resources as inspiration, we will observe the motifs, forms and purpose of the metalwork of other cultures. Through individualized guidance, students will develop their ideas through sketches and working in the metal directly. The pieces may be wearable or small sculpture. Metal techniques will include sawing, soldering, riveting, forging, texturing, patinas as well as caring for the tools. Requirement is to bring an open mind and a willingness to explore and share through periodic class critiques.
