About this Class:

Carrying Culture: Micronesia - Workshop for K-12 Educators 
(PDE3 section number to be announced, pending approval)
Explore Micronesian culture through this engaging workshop with the Honolulu Museum of Art. In it, you will learn how to integrate the arts with social studies; and you will take away concrete projects and resources that you can use with your students. Participants will: 

-Develop strategies and understandings to better meet the needs of Micronesian students and families
-Learn through art-making
-Explore Micronesian cultures through art, performances and food.
-Learn about the Micronesian experience in Hawaii through film and conversations with Micronesians
-Develop a repertoire of active-learning strategies for working with informational texts 
-Learn how to facilitate inquiry-based learning with primary resources and artifacts

A mandatory three-hour meeting to share progress on developing lesson plans will be scheduled for sometime in September. The exact time and date will be set during the June 15 - 17 workshop.

3 PD credits upon successful participation in all sessions of the workshop and completion of a learning portfolio.
