This introductory class provides in-depth instruction on the technical and conceptual aspects of modern metalsmithing essential to making jewelry. Potential projects and techniques include traditional use of the jeweler’s saw, soldering, polishing, simple forming, basic stone setting, and riveting. You will create finished pieces of jewelry made in silver, brass, and copper. Visits to explore the museum's collection will support lessons and provide inspiration for your work. This course is great for someone with no metals experience or who would like to brush up on their metalsmithing skills. No prior knowledge of metalwork or jewelry making is required.

Registration for this class closes on December 28.
