During this ten-week class, you will use a multistep process to create a self-portrait that begins with an identity reflection journal activity. Explore creative approaches to crafting an image of yourself while learning about the general proportions of the human head and face. Several ways of developing volume such as shading, hatching, coloring, and burnishing with color pencils will be covered. Lessons and demonstrations will be enhanced by visits to the museum's galleries and interactions with objects from the Lending Collection to inspire your work.
Students should bring a mixed-media sketchbook and folder/binder to the first class.
Registration for this class closes on December 27.
