Explore the creative application of the traditional technique of alla prima. Meaning “at first attempt” in Italian and also known as “wet on wet,” alla prima was used by artists from Veláquez to Sargent. While working through a process of trial and error, you will begin with a monochromatic palette work and transition into a full color palette work. Emphasis will be placed on creating loose and expressive work. Visits to the museum's galleries and the use of objects from the Lending Collection will provide inspiration for your work. Basic materials will be provided, and a list of additional suggested supplies will be provided on the first day of class.

Registration for this class closes on April 3.
