Shibori

Learn how to create beautiful designs on fabric using traditional and contemporary Japanese shibori techniques. You will learn how to use simple stitches to create delicate designs, use folding techniques to create geometric patterns, and bind fabric to create repeating motifs. We will use indigo blue and a variety of other color dyes to create fabric samples, and a tea towel set. You are also invited to bring in a T-shirt or other wardrobe item to apply the techniques covered. Intermediate-level students are welcome to register to further hone their artistry, however instruction and lessons will focus on beginner-level content.
