In this 10-week course, we will explore the printmaking techniques of Mary Cassatt, whose innovative approach to intaglio combined delicate line work, soft textures, and hand-applied color to create intimate and expressive prints. Meeting once a week, we will learn and practice drypoint, soft ground etching, and hand-coloring applications, uncovering the layered process behind these methods.

Beyond technical skills, this course invites reflection on the hidden labor within printmaking—each plate carrying unseen hours of meticulous work—while drawing parallels to the unseen efforts in our daily lives. As we etch, ink, and print, we will consider the balance of craft and contemplation, learning how process and patience shape art and experience.

All levels are welcome. No prior printmaking experience is required. Please note there is no class on August 3.

Don't miss your chance to join—registration closes on June 29!
