In this class we will explore the lore and practical art of hand and machine quilt making. Students will be encouraged to share personal stories and traditions. The class works with dyeing fabric and also embraces the use of recycled fabrics, a long-held quilt-making practice. Once students settle on a design, they will need to supplement supplies provided for the class. We will look at quilts from around the world and how our own traditions have changed and shaped modern quilt making.

Please bring a mixed-media sketchbook to the first class.

Registration for this class closes on June 28.

Prerequisites: Previous experience with hand and sewing machine stitching and operation is required.

Note: Clairefontaine Goldline Mixed-media Art Journals are available in the HoMA Shop.
