Learn the fundamental techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab construction while connecting with new people in a supportive environment. Weekly discussions and demonstrations will help you grasp and apply pottery-making techniques in creating functional or sculptural forms. Discover the role that form, balance, volume, surface texture, negative space, and color have in making work, and develop your own sense of personal aesthetics. Visits to the museum’s permanent collection will provide inspiration, supplement in-class demonstrations, and support your growth throughout the course. One bag of clay and all firings and glazes are included with tuition.

Please note that there will be no class on Nov. 30.

Registration for this class closes on Oct. 5.

Art for Life classes are tailored for 55+ adults and strive to unleash your creativity and self-expression while building a sense of community and supporting wellness. Each class is an opportunity for self-directed learning and social interaction and culminates in an exhibition that celebrates your work.
