This tour explores how the notion of mindfulness can interact with art, or feature within an art environment, in a variety of ways: we will cite some mindful spiritual traditions, but also consider how certain modern art practice incorporated this idea too. Finally, we will engage in grounding exercises utilizing the museum’s collection and grounds, inviting present moment awareness through drawing, close and slow looking, reflection, and sharing. In this way, we will expand on the standard tour experience, by treating art as a vehicle through which to engage with mindfulness itself.

Gather at the main entrance for a 45- to 60-minute tour.

This tour will be visiting galleries 19, 20, 8, 6, and the Chinese Courtyard.

Tours are free to join with museum admission.

Subject to group size restrictions and gallery occupancy limits. Due to unpredictable COVID conditions, tours are subject to last-minute cancellation.
