The Lone Wolf and Cub films are based on the best-selling 1970s manga series of the same name. The inaugural film Sword of Vengeance immediately made the leading role of Itto Ogami one of the all-time great samurai movie characters. In this installment, the Shadow Yagyu clan plots to solidify its power by taking control of Ogami's coveted position of shogun’s executioner. The legendary assassin (the lone wolf) escapes with his infant son, Daigoro (the cub), and swears vengeance.
