The September 18 screening was misprinted in the brochure as September 4. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Directed by Yim Soon-rye. South Korea. 2018. 103 min. Korean with English subtitles. Starring Kim Tae-ri, Ryu Jun-yeol, Moon So-ri, and Jin Ki-joo
Kim Tae-ri (The Handmaiden) stars as Hye-won, a woman so frustrated by city life that she returns to her rural home where she reunites with childhood friends Eun-sook and Jae-ha, who carry out their usual rural life. In the countryside, Hye-won acquaints herself with life’s simple pleasures, including growing and cooking her own food and drinking into the twilight hours. Each delicious meal offers Hye-won a renewed sense of self. In four transformative seasons—after mastering a series of seasonal homemade dishes—Hye-won deepens her friendships, better understands her past, and slowly realizes the importance of returning to one’s homeland. Little Forest, a delightful and inspiring film, is based on the popular manga of the same name.
