Franco Salmoiraghi: I was coming over, and they said, “The boats can’t get to the island, so you’re going to have to jump out of the boat and go out.” And I said, "Well, I'm sick.” I was laying down. And somebody just said, “Hey, if you want to go in there, if not, we're going to turn around and go back, and you can go back to Maui.” And I said, "Oh no, I need to go over there." And they said, "Okay, jump out." And so I went out until…
Jackie Wah: And what did they do with your camera? They threw your cameras in after you.
Franco Salmoiraghi: Well, I had put them in some plastic thing. So they threw my cameras away, two of them. They’re cameras that are made over $1,000 each from Germany. So when I got over to the thing, the water blew me over onto the sand and then I looked and I saw this woman, she's just sitting there looking out to the ocean and I took my camera and I held it up and I look at her and I point at it and she said, "Yes." And that's when I made the photograph of her. That was the first thing.
