Ancient Art

The Honolulu Museum of Art’s collection of ancient art features works dating from the Neolithic era (c. 10,0000–2000 BCE) to the 6th century. Approximately 880 objects from the early cultures of Asia, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and North and South America represent how styles, subjects, and techniques developed in the ancient world. Highlights include a 5th- to 6th-century Roman floor mosaic, a marble Cycladic figure dating from the 3rd millennium BCE, and an 8th-century BCE Olmec mask.
