Self-guided visits
School or university self-guided group visit
Due to the popularity of students visits, all self-guided group visits require booking a tour at least two weeks prior to the visit date. Do not make transportation arrangements until you receive email confirmation of your assigned date and time.
For school and homeschool groups:
- Grades K–5 require one chaperone per 10 students.
- Grade 6 and up requires one chaperone per 15 students.
- A 90-minute self-guided group visit can cater up to 30 students and 5 chaperones. Galleries can have a maximum of 15 people in a group. Please split your group if there are more than 15 people.
How book a school or university self-guided group visit:
- Login or create an account using your school or university email.
- Go to our Self-Guided visits calendar and select an available date.
- Select your tour group type and fill out the registration form. Please allow for 2–3 minutes to fill out all required information.
- Add your visit to your cart and complete your booking.
Self-Guided visit resources
Educators are welcome to download the self-guided tour pamphlet prior to visiting. This guide facilitates engagement with the artworks in the galleries through the lens of the elements of art and principles of design. It can be adapted for multiple grade levels, and provides in-gallery activities, guiding questions to spark discussion, and contextual information for the selected galleries. The tour takes approximately an hour and a half.
Individual student visits
We also welcome individual student visits, where a single student may experience the museum for free as part of a class assignment. Individual student visits are available during operating hours, Wednesdays through Sundays. Present your student ID when you arrive for free admission.
After your tour, let us know what you think!
