Noriko Kuwahara

KUWAHARA Noriko is an independent scholar based in Chiba, Japan. She received her MA in Art History from Ochanomizu Women’s University and PhD in Art History from the University of Tsukuba. She recently retired as a professor of Japanese Art History at Seitoku University in Chiba.
She has published extensively on Onchi Kōshirō and modern Japanese prints and received the Ringa Prize for her 2012 publication Onchi Kōshirō Kenkyū: Hanga no modanizumu [A Study of Onchi Kōshirō: Modernity in Japanese Prints.] Her publications include “The Art of Saitō Kiyoshi: Internationalism and Regionalism, ”Saitō Kiyoshi: Graphic Awakening (The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, 2021), Sengo Hanga ni miru Nichibeikōryū 1945–1965 [Postwar Printmaking Exchanges between Japan and the United States 1945–1965] Tokyo, Serika Shobō, 2024.
