Citra Sasmita

Step into the gallery space with Balinese artist Citra Sasmita for an insightful discussion on the 14th edition of her Timur Merah series, Tribe of Fire (2024–25) commissioned for HT25. This gallery talk offers a closer look at Sasmita’s evocative exploration of natural phenomena and their influence on sacred rituals. 

Inspired by the Ring of Fire—a region of volcanic and seismic activity encircling the Pacific—Tribe of Fire features three new paintings on cowhides. These works embody the transformative power of fire, examining how this elemental force has shaped rituals across cultures, symbolizing both destruction and renewal.
