René Pape, Jonas Kaufmann and Anja Harteros star in this highly anticipated production of Lohengrin from Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Richard Wagner’s deeply romantic opera about a chivalrous but anonymous knight marked his first exploration of leitmotifs, a musical innovation that changed the history of opera. Lohengrin gave us the now ubiquitous Bridal Chorus - also known as Here Comes the Bride - which became part of wedding tradition in Britain and elsewhere after it was used at the 1858 royal wedding of Princess Victoria and Prussian Prince Frederick William.
