About the Performance:
Nānākuli’s own Meleana Brown returns to the islands for a special one-night-only performance at the Doris Duke Theatre. This multi-talented artist performs gospel, Hawaiian, classical, ballads, pop and R&B nationally and internationally. Meleana was the opening act for Grammy-winning artist Bruno Mars and has sung alongside 10-time Grammy winner John Legend.
Meleana takes you on a journey with her soul-stirring original songs and then adds to the adventure with her powerhouse vocals in classic songs from Etta James, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, and Diana Ross.
Meleana Brown was born and raised in Hawai‘i and is part Filipino, Hawaiian, African-American, and Portuguese. She comes from a talented family that includes her sister Christina Brown (High School Musical) and cousin Nicole Scherzinger (Pussy Cat Dolls). Meleana first displayed her singing talents alongside her family at the New Hope Church on O‘ahu, and has gone on to perform at venues in Tokyo, London, and in her current city of Los Angeles. She recently released her first album Meleana, White Walls in November 2016.
This performance will start after ARTafterDARK: Parallel Universe. Please note that the only entrance for the concert will be behind the museum at 901 Kinau Street.
