About this Class:
Workshop / 3 session / $200 / Room 203 / Fri 6-9pm, Sat 10-4pm, Sun noon-6pm / Aug 21-23
Each class begins with Simeon Den guiding students in awareness of their chi, their inner life force. Through gentle, safe, aesthetic movement and easy-to-practice meditation, Den encourages artists to integrate breath and action. Zen brushwork is about finding yourself. Kay’s instruction begins with an introduction to the Tao of Painting and making ink. Focusing on breathing, posture and chi, lessons include an introduction to calligraphy and the classic forms of Zen art: enzo (Zen circle), ichi (one), Fuji (mountain) and ryu (dragon). All materials included. Den, a yoga and meditation teacher, is the author of Eight Meditations on Urban Life.
The workshop culminates with Where You Went Go? a multimedia performance by Den and special guests, on Aug. 23 at 5pm.
